Jessabelle Trailer

The establishing shot for this trailer is a long shot of a girl sitting in a wheelchair down a long dark hall which looks like a hospital. She is also wearing a hospital gown which makes the audience think she has something wrong with her however we are not told if it is physically or mentally. There is diagetic sound of a phone ringing and the shot quickly cuts to a close up of the girl answering the phone. The non- diagetic music that is being played builds tension and stops as the girl says "Dad". As she looks quite scared it leaves an enigam towards the audince becasue they wouldn't know why she seems scared to talk to her dad. the shot then imiidiatly cuts to a car driving down an empty road in day light. This contrasts the last shot as we are shown something quite creepy and confusing to someone relativly normal, this links into mundane realism.

We are shown a short clip of the main characters boyfriend and her in a car crash. This could explain to the audince as to why she was in the hospital in the opening.

Scary Movie Trailer

The establishing shot for this film is of a house. There is diagetic sound of a phone ringing. This links into mundane realsim becasue it will let people imagine it to be ther house and their own phone ringing. It is then straigh taway cut to a medium shot of a teenage blonde girl answering it. They have made the girl be this age and be blonde becasue these are the stereotypes that made her look vulnerable and unable to look after herself. A mans voice is then heard saying "wanna have a little fun?" this will come across quite creepy to audince as they don't know who he is. the sound of the voice is quite low and crackly making it come across even more creepy.

Jaws Trailer

This trailer has an establishing shot of under water. There is a voice over of a man speaking. He says "There is a creature who has survived millions of years of evolution.." This makes the audince feel tense as they will strat to think that this creature is deathly. There is also non-diagetic music playing in the background. This music is an iconic sound track as it is very well known. The way the camera is moving in a POV shot makes teh audience feel as if they are submerged uner water and are going along the journy that the camera is taking them.

"Lives to kill" and "Mindless eating machine" were two of the things that the voice over was saying that stood out to me. I feel this would really attract the audiences attention and make them fear what is coming up in the film howver make them intruigued to find out.

The shot then changes to a low angle shot of a girl swimming in the sea. The lighting is quite dark andf gloomy which makes the effect on the audince feel scared and wanting to find out what is coming towards her. The non-diagetic sound links into the lighting compositn of the shot as they all work well together to create a tension building, gloomy effect. The shot then suddenly moves from under the water to above the water so you can see the girls face, instead of body.  The music suddenly stops and she looks shocked and and begins to breather in quicte heavily. After a couple of seconds she is pulled under the water screaming. The audience is left with an enigma becasue they still have not seen the 'beast' that has attacked her.

The shot followiung from the distressful shot contrasts the mood hugely. The music is much happied and the lighting is bright and cheerful.

Film institutions - Horror

Lionsgate
Lionsgate was formed in Vancouver by a Canadian Entertainment company. As of 2007 their headquarters are located in California and is one of the most commercially successful independent film and television distribution company the North of America. This institution has distributed and produced productions from, television programmes, family entertainment to motion picture; providing us, the audience, with a range of cinematic experiences. Lionsgate has produced a large majority of film which have been hit box office success, such as the films, 'Kickass', 'Rambo' and even the most loved franchise 'The Hunger Games'. From doing some background research on this institution, I have found that a large proportion of their films are for a similar genre, which are thrillers, Action, and dramas. However they have produced and distributed a fair share of horror films, for example, the 'Saw' franchise films, 'My Bloody Valentine' and even 'The Last Exorcism'. Although they have produced and distributed horror films, this institution isn't primarily known for them as only a few have had success. From even further research, I discovered horror isn't their specialty for forte. This is important to know for my research into my film trailer as I need a suitable institution to distribute my production. Due to the research I have found, this institution may not be ideal for me as I believe my film trailer would need to be distributed from their track record, just for horrors, it hasn't been up to scratch.

Twisted Pictures

Twisted Pictures was founded in 2004 by Evolution Entertainment's Mark Burg, Greg Hoffman and Oren Koules. This institution has grossed more than half a billion dollars from one of the most well-known horror series and sequels; 'Saw' films. Twisted Pictures aims and primarily focus on the horror genre, producing such films as 'Saw' and 'Texas Chainsaw 3D'. This American independent film company as many competitors, including 'Hammer Film' productions. Due to this institution being a horror specialist it, it shows me that they have a lot of potential with advertising and producing our film trailer. In comparison with 'Hammer', I would say this institution follows the conventional horror films, of primarily using blood and gore to create a disturbing atmosphere; whereas Hammer does not focus on this element as much, but more of a storyline to their films.
Warner Bros
Warner Bros is another of many American film companies, which has dominated the film industry during the 20th and 21st Century, This institution is very successful as they do a range of roles such as licensing productions, marketing all forms of creative productions and distributing and producing media. They have been involved in the 'Harry Potter' franchise, by distributing and producing these films and also been involved trilogy of 'The Hangover'. Warner Bros are dedicated in producing a variety of genre, from comedy and action to thriller and horror. Due to me making a horror trailer I am very interested in the horror element to this institution. They have been distributors for horror films such as 'One Missed Call', 'House of Wax', 'Sweeney Todd' and 'The Orphan'. These have all been successful horror films, which were marketed and distributed at a high standard through the use of multi-platform device; laptops, phones and television. When comparing this to 20th Century Fox, I realised that Warner Bros horror films were more well-known and successful then the ones produced by 20th Century Fox. This is due to 20th Century Fox focussing on specific genre whereas Warner Bros focus on a range of genres from action to horror. Due to this institution success for horror films, this may be a good institution to use for our as it would mean our horror trailer would be marketed correctly as also being distributed by them would lead to more success for our trailer, due to their past track records for this genre of film.

20th Century Fox
I have researched 20th Century Fox to see if this institution has the potential to distribute and produce my film trailer. From my research I have found out that a large majority of their films were comedy or family genre films such as 'Night at the Museum' and 'Diary of a Wimpy Kid'. This automatically tells me that they may not like producing or distributing films that are horror based. However, I researched a little further, which led me to discover that they do like to distribute horror films such as 'From Hell', 'Shutter', and 'The Haunting of Molly Hartley'. However, this institution prefers to distribute horror films rather than produce them, which they do very effective through using multi-platinum devices etc. As I am producing a horror genre trailer I need an institution which would distribute and produce my trailer effectively, so it can gain the success it deserves. As 20th Century only does distribution it gives me an opportunity to use them for the distribution aspect, as they could make my film go worldwide.

Hammer films
Hammer institution is UK Film Company in which it is known best for a series of Gothic Horror Films that were produced during the mid-1950’s until around the 1970. However this institution has faced many obstacles which has lead them to becoming more powerful in the film industry. During the 1980's the company lost funding from America which led to the institution shutting down; however in 2000 the company announced they will be reopening and produced their first film in 2007. From analysing and researching other institutions which distribute and produce horror films, this is the only British one. If I do use this institution it would let the audience know that my film trailer was made by an independent company that are British. Comparing them to the other institutions, Hammer, is a very small company, which suggest they have lot smaller funding ratio. This could mean that my trailer may not get distributed as well as it could due to the lack of funding’s. However, due to this institution’s forte being horrors it would give my film trailer more potential due to this company knowing how to sell and distribute horrors. This may be a potential candidate for our institution as they will know what to do to gain the best popularity and outcome profit for our film.

Titanic Trailer

The establishing shot for this trailer has been taken underwater. this leaves an enigma within the audience because they are left not knowing what it is at first. This is good at drawing the audience into watching the rest of the trailer because they will want to find out what it is. Whilst these underwater shots are being shown, there is non - diegetic music being played. It sounds like and orchestra which links into the genre of the film as it is a drama/romance.

The shot then cuts to a medium POV shot of a TV. They have sound bridged the over voice on the under water shots to this shot as it was of a man talking on the TV.

There is a close up, low angle shot of the grandma (Rose) looking down at the picture that they have found. It lasts quite a few seconds which makes the audience really try to understand what she is thinking. This is because it would mean quite a lot to Rose to be looking at that image as it would be likely to bring back memories that we are yet to find out.

Rose is also seen in another close up shot as she looks into the camera. There is a voice over of the man who is searching for the diamond say "Are you ready to go back to Titanic?" this makes the audience feel as if they are along the journey with Rose and all the other passengers that experienced such a devastation.

We are shown a head shot of Rose when she is younger in a big purple hat and white clothing, this makes her look very rich. The way she looks at the boat can make the audience feel that she is quite spoilt as she doesn't look impressed or excited at all compared to the people surrounding her. There is a huge contrast in clothing and expression between the working class and high class that we see straight away. This is because all of the working class are shown wearing brown clothes, all looking the same, however they also look extremely excited as they wave of there family and people of Ireland.

We are shown a shot of Jack (Leonardo Dicaprio) look over at Rose (Kate Winslet) and her cannot take his eyes of her however she does not seem that interested. this makes the audience think that your different classes really show who you can be friends with and who you cant be. As Rose is shown from a low angle shot, this makes her look more important as the audience feel as if they are looking up at her.

Lots of short clips of Rose and Jacks love life is shown in the trailer. This is a USP as they will attract certain audiences, stereotypically would be 15-25 year old females. By showing there love life it makes the audience feel as if they have a connection with the couple as they can relate there love life to the one being shown, or even imagine that they are in Rose/Jacks position.

The non- diegetic sound begins to get faster and more tense as Rose FiancĂ© finds out about her and Jack. This suggests to the audience that something else might go wrong as well as him finding out. The music then gets even more tension  building when the ice burg is spotted. This makes the audience realise its not just a happy romantic story.

Long shots are shown of the boat sinking. This lets the audience see what is actually happening and can make them feel like they are actually there. They are then able to see the panic of everyone on the boat making it have an even bigger effect on them. The shots become faster and faster as the trailer goes on.

The end shot is of the boat underwater again. This shows the audience the ending without telling them what happens to the couple. This makes the audience intrigued and leaves an enigma as they are left unknowingly.

Sinister Trailer

The establishing shot starts of with a long shot of a house. This leaves an enigma within the audince becsue we are not old anything about it. It has been shot in the dark which connotes danger meaning that the audince will automatically link danger to the house. The non - diagetic noise that is being played automatically creates tension within the audince becasuse it is quite slow and squeeky. There is also a voice over of what sounds like a news report. By putting this in it makes the audince relate to real life (mundane realism) This creates more of an effect towards them becasue they are able to link it into there own life stories.
An image of a family are shown, it has a red circle around a little girl who looks quite serious and not very happy compared to her other family members. She has her arms crossed which makes the audince assume she is quite stubborn or is having someione tell her to do something she doesnt want to do. Straight after this shot we are a shown a drawing of stick men hanging from a tree. It looks like a child has drawn it as it doesnt have a lot of detail however each person has been labelled for each family member. This can come across quite disterbing towards the audince becasue the thought of a child thinking that is quite 'abnormal'.

After the first 17 second of the trailer, words come up saying "9 months later" This shows that what we have just seen was in the past meaning that whatever happens next could be quite bad.
The same house is shown again however this time it is day time taking some of that tension away from the audince. Moving vans are shown in the shot which lets the audince know that people will be moving in. We are introduced to the family that will be starring in the film. There is a voice over of one of the children saying "i dont want to move here" this shows the audince that the children already have a bad feeling about being there. However the parents seem to be blinded about why as they are very excited about it. We find out that the father is a writer looking for stories. This makes the audince think that maybe that is the reason as to why they have moved into that particular house.

We are shown a long shot of the loft with a box placed int the middle. this could come across quite odd as if it is a new house they are moving into there shouldn't be anything left over. It makes the audicne wonder what is in it. The next shot we are shown an over head shoulder of the father opening it. There is a tape recorder in it, this could be quite intriguong as the audince will want to watch what is in it. We find out that they are videos of the family who lived here previously. A very quick shot is shown of peoples legs dangelling from a tree. Then the father jumping up from his chair with a fright. Thuis builds tension within the audice. The non - diagetic sound that comes with the shot also makes it seem even creepier becasue it is a high pitch noise.

We are shown a blurred clip of the antagonist. This makes the audience want to know more about him. Howver aklso leave a slight enigmas as you cannot see him clearly making them want to know/see more. We find out that he 'lives' in the pictures and as the father is looking through all of the other photos/videos from the previous family it means we are able to find more about him.

At the end of the trailer, they have a blinming eye effect of different shots. They last about ohne second for each one. |This is quite fast which creates tension within the audice as they are intriged to know more.

The end shot we are shown is of children sitting opposite eachother. they have white facepaint on, other than that they look fairly normal. They are sittignin silence looking at the camera. they all put there indext finger up to there mouth and whisper "shh". This makes it seem as if they are being controlled or told what to do. They seem possessed in some way. It is a long shot which looks like it has been taken in the loft of whihc we are introduced to in the earlier part of the trailer. There is no diagetic sound involved in this shot until after a couple of second when the antagonist suddenly pops out into the camera. He is shown ina close up shot and only lasts 2 seconds. This will make the audince jump and feel very on edge.

The Impossible Trailer.

The Impossible already has a USP without even watching the trailer as it has Naomi Watts starring in it. She has starred in films such as King Kong which was a very well known film which made a lot of money. The establishing shot shows a fairly modern car driving through what looks like a rain-forest. this makes the audience assume it will be based in a foreign country which is a USP as most people like to watch films to escape from everyday life.  There is a light piano non - diagetic sound playing in the background which sets a happy mood for the audicne. The following shots show a very luxury hotel pool with the family looking very amazed as from their accent you know they're British.
Lots of shots of the family spending time together are shown. For instance them playing on the beach, snorkeling and eating dinner. This makes the audince warm to the family as it can remind them of experiences that they have had with there own family. Writing is shown which says 'In 2004', this appears as the piano music is still playing. Making the audience not think anything of it.

A medium shot of a boys legs running after a ball is shown. As he puts his foot on the ball the music stops. This makes tesion within the audince as they don't know why the mood has suddenly chnaged. Words come up saying ''Tragedy Struck South East Asia' This includes a fact in the trailer which relates to mundane realism as it takes the audince back to reality. All the non - diagetic sound is removed and they have enhanced the diagetic sound. This is to make it easier for the audince to relate to and feel as if they are in that situation. The noises that are enhanced are of the birds, they are shown in a low angle shot flying quite fast all in one direction suggesting to the audince that something is wrong.

One significant shot taht stood out to me was this one. It has many different shots all involved in one. For instance it is an over head shoulder shot of the mother looking at waht is happeneing. It shows a long shot of the little boy holding the iconic ball which is seen a couple of times throughout the trailer. This can create quite a sad emotion towards the audience becasue it is showing the family's love and feelings. This is because the mum is shown watching the boy. As the boy is seen looking very small in a long shot, this makes him look vulnerable to what is about to happen. This shot lasts about 3 seconds and then there are shots shown of the rest of the family looking petrified and screaming eachothers names. It then returns to this shot but zoomed in slightly, it shows the wave over take the houses and trees as it crashes down onto where the family are staying. The diagetic sound have been nenhanced to make it seem even more extreme and life like to the audince. As the wave is about to hit the mother the diagetic noise suddenly fades out and has no music playing. Words come up saying "This is one familys true story of survival" This makes the audience feel like they are being a part of that families journey and can make them feel linked into what happens to them a lot more.
Close up shots of the father shouting "Maria" over and over again is shown, this shows the audience the pain and distress that he is going through making them feel distressed as well.

There is a voice over of the father talking to the two youngest boys. Whilst this is being played there are shots of the mother and oldest boy trying to stay in reach. There are birds eye view of the distraught and harm that was made of South East Asia to help the audience understand what actually happened.

Diagetic and non - diagetic sound is played throughout the ending of the trailer as it creates more of an emotion towards the audience by making it seem more powerful. This is becasue you can hear the family talking and helping out others however you also have the effect of the sad music being played making what you watch quite distressful.

At the very end of the trailer a previous shot of the family before the Tsunami hit is shown. This suggests that the family do make it back together in the end and everything becomes happy again. It is a shot of the family letting out Chinese lanterns
. these are known to be used to let out any secrets or regrets you have had or even what you wish to happen in the future. This can make the audince think that maybe they are writing what they are grateful for which would be getting back together and managing to move forward with their life.

You're Next - Trailer.

The establishing shot is of a CD being put into a CD player. This is what then switches on the music to the trailer making it seem as if it is diegetic noise however, they would have added the music in during the editing process making it non - diegetic.
For the first 35 seconds of the trailer, they have made it seem very happy and very family orientated. They have the song 'Perfect day' playing in the background with shots of the family talking to each other. We find out that they go away for a weekend because we are shown long shots of a car driving down dusty roads and them pulling up at a house they are not familure with.
Writing pops up saying 'A perfect weekend' then a few medium shots and close up shots are shown of the family talking about how much it means that they are all there. Then more writing pops up saying 'A perfect family' By repeating the words 'Perfect' makes the audience think that nothing will go wrong.

A panning close up shot is shown of the family hold each other hands when they begin to say Grace at the beginning of a meal. This shows that they are religious and could be seen as the 'perfect' family to the audience.

A low pitch non - diegetic sound comes in as the other music stops. This creates a mood change towards the audience as it seems as if it will not be as happy anymore.
The music changes as a POV medium shot of the mother is shown pouring a glass of water. This makes it seem as if someone is watching her through the window creating tension within the audience. After a couple of seconds a reflection of someone wearing a white mask pops up. This could give a fright to the audience as a high pitch noise starts to play as well.

The shot then changes quickly to a black screen with words that say 'Everything will change' with a loud and low noise of a piano. They have added in blinking effect of shots with black barriers in between. This makes the audience feel pressured and as if lots of things are happening at once as they do not have time to focus on one shot before the next one pops up. The audience is shown panic and confusion within the characters, this is because they are shown running around the house screaming and trying to find cover.

Writing is drawn on a mirror of which looks like it has been done with blood. This leaves an enigma within the audience because it says 'You're next' without showing or telling you what it means or who is next.

The song that is playing throughout the beginning of the trailer when the happiest moments are shown is also played at the end when the scariest moments are shown. This creates a huge contrast as it can be linked into both scary and happy parts of the film.

Feedback on your posts so far

Well done, you have analysed the trailer and magazine covers in detail and used lots of key terminology.  I am pleased to see that you are using the terms enigma codes and analysing the connotations of certain elements.

Indidious - Magazine cover.

The masthead of this magazine is 'Fangoria' This is the name of the magazine. They have made it very bold by putting the font white with a red outline. As it is up against a black background it creates a huge contrast and makes it very eye catching for the audience. You can tell that this magazine will be suitable for horror lovers just from the font. This is becasue red connotes danger, blood and vilonce and by having the extended line on the letter 'F' and 'A' looks like scraches or blood dripping, this all links into the stereotypical conventions that you be be likey to see in a horror film. Having the font these colours, links it to the title of Insidious as that is the colours that are in the 'Insidious' title. This matches the film to the magazine making the audience think that it will include a lot about 'Insidious' and will attract them into buying it even more. The banner running across the top of the magazine says ' Italian horror! American terror! German gore!' this advertises to the audince that there will be a range of things that they will be talking about but all involves some convention of horror. The main image is shown in the centre of the cover. As the whole magazine is very dark, they have placed a very scary looking character from 'Insidious' holding a candle just below their face. This allow the audience to see part of the face but to still not know a lot about what it looks like so that an enigma is left.  There is a strip of four images shown along the bottom of the magazine. They all have some kind of horror convention involved in each image; whether it is gore, a mask hiding identity. The barecode is placed on the opposite side to where the barecode on the previous magazione i analysed, this is proberly becasue it interferes with the strip of images along the bottom. However i prefer when the barcode is on the bottom right hand side as i think that layout looks a lot more clear and set out correctly.

The Purge Trailer

The establishing shot for this trailer is a close up of a sunrise. Non-diagetic sound is introduced as the first shot appears. It is the sound of a piano holding down one note. It sounds quite depressing as has quite a low tone to it and lasts about 3 seconds.  The words 'America, A nation reborn'
then appears as the sunrise fades to black.
This can make the audience wonder why America will be re-born and what it means, this leaves an enigma and makes them want to find out more.
The siluette of a family is shown walking towards the sunset holding hands; this leaves a happy feeling towards the audince and makes them wonder what can go wrong as all they have seen is happy images.
Facts have been included in the trailer such as 'Unemployment is at 1%'. This brings mundane realism into the trailer as it makes the audince start to believe that it is real as facts and figures are being used.
Medium shot shows the family (who we assume are the main characters) eating at the dinner table. This is followed by a close up of the parents. This can make the audience think that the parents are in control what what the family decide to do becasue they are the only two close up shots shown, making tghem seem powerful. However, we do get to know slightly about the children in the oncoming shots. For instance we find out that the teenage girl has a boyfriend as a medium shot of them kissing is shown. As this shot is being shown the word 'Crime is at an all time low' pops up. This will not make a lot of sense to the audince at first as they will think the film will include a lot of crime and viloence. However, as they carry on watching they realise what it means.
A panning birds eye view shot is shown of the village that the family we will watch throughout the film lives in. This can help the audience relate to them and put themselves in there shoes.
After this fairly peaceful shot of where the family lives, the writing 'becasue one night a year' comes up. The non - diagetic sound comes in of a crackling noise as the words begin to shake.
The next shot looks like old, real life footage of previous years. It shows violence through weapons and through physical harm. The way they have made it look like real footage is by the camera angles that they have filmed, for instance -a high angle shot makes it look like it has been captured by a CCTV camera. They have made sure it is not very clear which makes it seem as if someone has filmed it quickly from there phone.
The distribution company 'Universal' comes up 32 seconds into the trailer. This is followed by an establishing shot of the familys house so that the audince can relate back into the film and link it back into mundane realism.
A close up shot of the dad saying "allows people a release". This makes the audience wonder what release he is talking about. However a sound bridge of some kind of electric chainsaw followed by the actual footage of someone sharpoening a knife.
A long shot of an empty street is shown with Diagetic sound of a radio broadcast telling the people what happens. This gives the audience more of an idea about what will happen and why this particular family are blocking their house up for this particular night.
There is a siron in the background which has been sound bridged throughout the rest of the trailer. This builds the tension up within the audience. As they have the traisition fading to black between each shotwhilst the siron is on creates suspesnse.
The shots begin to speed up half way through the trailer when another character is shown. This makes the tension build up even more as the non-diagetic sound changes to a faster speed aswel making. The diagetic sound and non diagetic sound work together to create tension as the speed of the shots begin to increase. By having a variation of shot types like POV shot makes the audince feel like it is them experiencing the violence within the trailer. This medium shot of the female figure (mother) walking holding a gun for proctection subverts the usual conventions and stereotypes of females in horror films. This is because they are usually seen as being vulnerable and incapable of looking after themself. However; as the audience are shown the antagonist in the background, this conforms to the stereotypes as she is seen to be in trouble. However this also leaves an enigma becasue wedont find out whether she gets hurt or not.
The final shot

The Dark Night Rises - Magazine cover.

The masthead of this magazine is the word 'Empire'. The font of it is very bold, this makes it stand out against the black background and makesthe audience focus on that title. The colour of the font dennotes red; this connotes anger, fire and violence. These are all stereotypes as to what you would expect to see in the Batman films as the genre is Action. The banner is shown just above the masthead. This is there to atrtract the audience into reading the magazine even more as it says "The ultimate exclusive" meaning that the magazine will include stories and features about 'The Dark Night Rises' that no other magazine will know about. The main image that is shown is of 'Bane'. He is the main antagonist in the Batman film. By having the background colour fade into white from black in the centre of the magazine cover, makes 'Bane' stand out even more and makes him look quite powerful as it looks as if he is shining. This makes a contrast of what his personality could be becasue you would expect him to be quite aggressive however having this lighting effect behind him can make you think the opposite about him. A puff is shown justunder the masthead. This says 'Batman vs Bane' showing that Bane will be the antagonist as everyone knows from the other sequals that batman is the one that always saves the day. The mask that Bane is shown wearing comes across quite scary and intimidating as it is quite abnormal. It also leaves an enigma as to what he looks like, making the audince want to know more about him. The iconic symbol of batman is shown in the top left hand side of the magazine cover. This is a good thing to have on the magazine as it showsa the audicne that it is a sequal to the other batman films. It stands out as it has a glowing effect and as it is white against a black background it makes it stand out even more. This glowing effect also links into the glowing effect that is shown behind 'Bane' this could be a sign linking batman and bane together meaning that batman will always be following bane. The bar code is present at the bottom right hand side of the magazine, this appears on evry magazine.

Bond through the ages.

Skyfall 2012

This poster has been created to specifically include USP (unique selling points) such as the loaction that you can see in the background of the image. As it shows the land mark Big Ben, it will attract the audience to go and watch the film if they are interested in London the City. Daniel Craig is another USP of the film. This is because he is a well known actor who is loved my many people/fans. As we all know Skyfall is an action film; there is not many specific elements within the poster which shows the audience the genre staright away.  However Daniel Craig is shown holding a small gun; this could mean that they are trying to show 'Skyfall' more as a class sophisication film compared to an action film like the other James Bond films. We are made to think this bceause Daniel Craig is shown wearing a suit which connotes wealth and you wouldn't usually associate someone who is know to be in fight scenes to be wearing such high class clothing.
The poster also includes an iconic image of the Aston Martain car. This appears in every James Bond film which could be an attraction for James Bond fans becasue they would look out for when the car appears throughout the film.
The colours included in this poster is black and white, this canmke the poster seem of high class becasue the iconic 007 symbol shown under the main title is gold, if the poster was normal colours this symbol wouldn't stand out as much as being gold meaning it wouldn't connote the same high class links to the setting (London) and the main character (Daniel Craig).

Golden Eye 1995

This filmposter shows the bond movie almost completely different to the Skyfall poster. This is becasue of the way the characters are represented. For example; Daniel Craig (Skyfall poster) is shown alone with the setting in the background and leaning against the iconic aston martain. This poster shows a close up of the main character as James bond (Pierce Brosnan) with two good looking girls standing behind him. The clothes that the two girls are wearing suggests they will be seen as a 'sex object' through this film as they have low cut dresses and have had there makeup done nicely. This will attract female audience as women are know to like romance genres which means that they would look for this in the Bond films and by showing two ladies behind James Bond, you would expect that some part of romance will be involved. To show the genre 'action' through the poster, they have put fire emerging from beneath the title "007" with helicopters and planes flying through it, they have also included an action shot of Pierce Brosman running out of the flames making him seem like he will be a big part in the action side. In the background of the poster it shows computerised maps. This shows the audience that he will be travelling a lot in the film with could be a USP as they will want to see where he travels to see a range of different cultures. The title 'Golden Eye' is gold, this makes it seem classy as the colour gold connotes money and someone of high class. It also links into the title itself becasue it is called 'Golden eye'. It also has a ring goimng around the E on 'eye'. This creates an enigma to the audince as they do not know what it symbolises, it could be marriage or something completely different, thuis could draw the audiemnce into watching it.

Gold Finger 1964
This poster has a few similarities to the poster above 'Golden Eye' as both use sex as a way of enticing the audiences appeal into watching the film. The background colour is black which makes the colour of the titles and sub titles stand out more as they are white, gold and red, this makes the poster look more eye catching and stand out more. These colours connote fire which links to the film bring action as you are likely to see lots of explosions throughout this particular genre of films. As part of the writing is gold and the film title is 'Gold Finger' it reinforces the title and shows a link between what is included in the poster and what the film will be about. The writing on the poster says 'James Bond is back, Everything he touches, Turns to excitement'. With the imagery of a naked female laying down in the background makes the audience think that part of the excitement will include some kind of romance. The top image is of Bond looking beneath him grinding his teeth, this leaves an enigma to the audience as they will want to find out what he is looking at and feeling some sort of pain towards (we assume he is feeling pain from the way he has tensed his face). Although all of the shots of Bond by himself are head shots (close up) you can still see a hint of what he is wearing. He is wearing a suit which is a stereotype of what bond wears in all of his films making the audience see that he will still be shown as the high class action man throughout the film. You can tell that this poster is not as professional as was made a long time ago. The reason I think that is because there is a lot of images within the poster making it look more distracting compared to if it had one main focal picture. The title of the film is also places in the bottom right hand corner which makes it hard for the audience to see what it is called, therefore loose interest.

   Octopussy 1983

This poster has taken a completely different look compared to the other James Bond posters. This is mainly because of the background colour. They have chosen it to be white and all of the other posters are mostly black or just very dark colours. The white colour connotes purity and innocence which makes the audience think that that could be involved in the film making it slightly different from all of the other Bond movies. They have also shown an image which shows the whole body of James Bond (Roger Moore) letting us see the mise-en-scene of him. He is wearing the stereotyped suit, standing up tall looking confident with a female figure wearing a red/pink dress which shows all of her leg, this comes across quite sexual to the audience allowing them to know that there will be some sort of romance involved, as the colour is red/pink this connotes love which also links into the love interest in the film. There are lots of female arms touching bond and holding cocktail drinks showing that there will also be some sort of parties involved in the film, it also connotes that Bond is a ladies man and could suggest that there will be lots of women he is 'dating' or lots of women wanting him. The female arms could also be a link to the title of the film because it is called 'Octopussy' and 'Oct' means eight and there are eight female arms surrounding him. This makes the audience thin that the number eight may be involved a lot in the film. As Bond is shown in front of the female figures, it suggests his dominance over them and his power and main part in the film. As bond is also shown holding a gun in his hand, this also supports the fact of his dominance throughout the film and also suggests how there will be a lot of action of which includes Bond.

Dr. No 1962
Dr.No was the first ever Bond movie to be put into cinematic action from the books. The colours that are involved in this poster are very different compared to all of the other more recent James Bond films, other than 'Octopussy'. This is because Dr.No has used pale colours such as blue blending into a white colour that is focused in the centre on the poster this links many connotations to the poster such as; makes the film look like it will be more chilled as the colours are not very intense and do not conform to the usual action film posters; this is because they usually have colours like red, black and white. It also can show a link into where the film may be set/located. This is because as the colours are light blue, this makes us assume it will being a warm place, this could help attract audience if they want to escape what they are going through at home therefore, watching a film based in an exotic country will help them escape reality. Sean Connery stars as 'James Bond'.
