The Dark Night Rises - Magazine cover.

The masthead of this magazine is the word 'Empire'. The font of it is very bold, this makes it stand out against the black background and makesthe audience focus on that title. The colour of the font dennotes red; this connotes anger, fire and violence. These are all stereotypes as to what you would expect to see in the Batman films as the genre is Action. The banner is shown just above the masthead. This is there to atrtract the audience into reading the magazine even more as it says "The ultimate exclusive" meaning that the magazine will include stories and features about 'The Dark Night Rises' that no other magazine will know about. The main image that is shown is of 'Bane'. He is the main antagonist in the Batman film. By having the background colour fade into white from black in the centre of the magazine cover, makes 'Bane' stand out even more and makes him look quite powerful as it looks as if he is shining. This makes a contrast of what his personality could be becasue you would expect him to be quite aggressive however having this lighting effect behind him can make you think the opposite about him. A puff is shown justunder the masthead. This says 'Batman vs Bane' showing that Bane will be the antagonist as everyone knows from the other sequals that batman is the one that always saves the day. The mask that Bane is shown wearing comes across quite scary and intimidating as it is quite abnormal. It also leaves an enigma as to what he looks like, making the audince want to know more about him. The iconic symbol of batman is shown in the top left hand side of the magazine cover. This is a good thing to have on the magazine as it showsa the audicne that it is a sequal to the other batman films. It stands out as it has a glowing effect and as it is white against a black background it makes it stand out even more. This glowing effect also links into the glowing effect that is shown behind 'Bane' this could be a sign linking batman and bane together meaning that batman will always be following bane. The bar code is present at the bottom right hand side of the magazine, this appears on evry magazine.
