Sinister Trailer

The establishing shot starts of with a long shot of a house. This leaves an enigma within the audince becsue we are not old anything about it. It has been shot in the dark which connotes danger meaning that the audince will automatically link danger to the house. The non - diagetic noise that is being played automatically creates tension within the audince becasuse it is quite slow and squeeky. There is also a voice over of what sounds like a news report. By putting this in it makes the audince relate to real life (mundane realism) This creates more of an effect towards them becasue they are able to link it into there own life stories.
An image of a family are shown, it has a red circle around a little girl who looks quite serious and not very happy compared to her other family members. She has her arms crossed which makes the audince assume she is quite stubborn or is having someione tell her to do something she doesnt want to do. Straight after this shot we are a shown a drawing of stick men hanging from a tree. It looks like a child has drawn it as it doesnt have a lot of detail however each person has been labelled for each family member. This can come across quite disterbing towards the audince becasue the thought of a child thinking that is quite 'abnormal'.

After the first 17 second of the trailer, words come up saying "9 months later" This shows that what we have just seen was in the past meaning that whatever happens next could be quite bad.
The same house is shown again however this time it is day time taking some of that tension away from the audince. Moving vans are shown in the shot which lets the audince know that people will be moving in. We are introduced to the family that will be starring in the film. There is a voice over of one of the children saying "i dont want to move here" this shows the audince that the children already have a bad feeling about being there. However the parents seem to be blinded about why as they are very excited about it. We find out that the father is a writer looking for stories. This makes the audince think that maybe that is the reason as to why they have moved into that particular house.

We are shown a long shot of the loft with a box placed int the middle. this could come across quite odd as if it is a new house they are moving into there shouldn't be anything left over. It makes the audicne wonder what is in it. The next shot we are shown an over head shoulder of the father opening it. There is a tape recorder in it, this could be quite intriguong as the audince will want to watch what is in it. We find out that they are videos of the family who lived here previously. A very quick shot is shown of peoples legs dangelling from a tree. Then the father jumping up from his chair with a fright. Thuis builds tension within the audice. The non - diagetic sound that comes with the shot also makes it seem even creepier becasue it is a high pitch noise.

We are shown a blurred clip of the antagonist. This makes the audience want to know more about him. Howver aklso leave a slight enigmas as you cannot see him clearly making them want to know/see more. We find out that he 'lives' in the pictures and as the father is looking through all of the other photos/videos from the previous family it means we are able to find more about him.


At the end of the trailer, they have a blinming eye effect of different shots. They last about ohne second for each one. |This is quite fast which creates tension within the audice as they are intriged to know more.

 The end shot we are shown is of children sitting opposite eachother. they have white facepaint on, other than that they look fairly normal. They are sittignin silence looking at the camera. they all put there indext finger up to there mouth and whisper "shh". This makes it seem as if they are being controlled or told what to do. They seem possessed in some way. It is a long shot which looks like it has been taken in the loft of whihc we are introduced to in the earlier part of the trailer. There is no diagetic sound involved in this shot until after a couple of second when the antagonist suddenly pops out into the camera. He is shown ina close up shot and only lasts 2 seconds. This will make the audince jump and feel very on edge.
