Skyfall 2012
This poster has been created to specifically include USP (unique selling points) such as the loaction that you can see in the background of the image. As it shows the land mark Big Ben, it will attract the audience to go and watch the film if they are interested in London the City. Daniel Craig is another USP of the film. This is because he is a well known actor who is loved my many people/fans. As we all know Skyfall is an action film; there is not many specific elements within the poster which shows the audience the genre staright away. However Daniel Craig is shown holding a small gun; this could mean that they are trying to show 'Skyfall' more as a class sophisication film compared to an action film like the other James Bond films. We are made to think this bceause Daniel Craig is shown wearing a suit which connotes wealth and you wouldn't usually associate someone who is know to be in fight scenes to be wearing such high class clothing. The poster also includes an iconic image of the Aston Martain car. This appears in every James Bond film which could be an attraction for James Bond fans becasue they would look out for when the car appears throughout the film.
The colours included in this poster is black and white, this canmke the poster seem of high class becasue the iconic 007 symbol shown under the main title is gold, if the poster was normal colours this symbol wouldn't stand out as much as being gold meaning it wouldn't connote the same high class links to the setting (London) and the main character (Daniel Craig).
Golden Eye 1995
This filmposter shows the bond movie almost completely different to the Skyfall poster. This is becasue of the way the characters are represented. For example; Daniel Craig (Skyfall poster) is shown alone with the setting in the background and leaning against the iconic aston martain. This poster shows a close up of the main character as James bond (Pierce Brosnan) with two good looking girls standing behind him. The clothes that the two girls are wearing suggests they will be seen as a 'sex object' through this film as they have low cut dresses and have had there makeup done nicely. This will attract female audience as women are know to like romance genres which means that they would look for this in the Bond films and by showing two ladies behind James Bond, you would expect that some part of romance will be involved. To show the genre 'action' through the poster, they have put fire emerging from beneath the title "007" with helicopters and planes flying through it, they have also included an action shot of Pierce Brosman running out of the flames making him seem like he will be a big part in the action side. In the background of the poster it shows computerised maps. This shows the audience that he will be travelling a lot in the film with could be a USP as they will want to see where he travels to see a range of different cultures. The title 'Golden Eye' is gold, this makes it seem classy as the colour gold connotes money and someone of high class. It also links into the title itself becasue it is called 'Golden eye'. It also has a ring goimng around the E on 'eye'. This creates an enigma to the audince as they do not know what it symbolises, it could be marriage or something completely different, thuis could draw the audiemnce into watching it.Gold Finger 1964
This poster has a few similarities to the poster above 'Golden Eye' as both use sex as a way of enticing the audiences appeal into watching the film. The background colour is black which makes the colour of the titles and sub titles stand out more as they are white, gold and red, this makes the poster look more eye catching and stand out more. These colours connote fire which links to the film bring action as you are likely to see lots of explosions throughout this particular genre of films. As part of the writing is gold and the film title is 'Gold Finger' it reinforces the title and shows a link between what is included in the poster and what the film will be about. The writing on the poster says 'James Bond is back, Everything he touches, Turns to excitement'. With the imagery of a naked female laying down in the background makes the audience think that part of the excitement will include some kind of romance. The top image is of Bond looking beneath him grinding his teeth, this leaves an enigma to the audience as they will want to find out what he is looking at and feeling some sort of pain towards (we assume he is feeling pain from the way he has tensed his face). Although all of the shots of Bond by himself are head shots (close up) you can still see a hint of what he is wearing. He is wearing a suit which is a stereotype of what bond wears in all of his films making the audience see that he will still be shown as the high class action man throughout the film. You can tell that this poster is not as professional as was made a long time ago. The reason I think that is because there is a lot of images within the poster making it look more distracting compared to if it had one main focal picture. The title of the film is also places in the bottom right hand corner which makes it hard for the audience to see what it is called, therefore loose interest.Octopussy 1983
This poster has taken a completely different look compared to the other James Bond posters. This is mainly because of the background colour. They have chosen it to be white and all of the other posters are mostly black or just very dark colours. The white colour connotes purity and innocence which makes the audience think that that could be involved in the film making it slightly different from all of the other Bond movies. They have also shown an image which shows the whole body of James Bond (Roger Moore) letting us see the mise-en-scene of him. He is wearing the stereotyped suit, standing up tall looking confident with a female figure wearing a red/pink dress which shows all of her leg, this comes across quite sexual to the audience allowing them to know that there will be some sort of romance involved, as the colour is red/pink this connotes love which also links into the love interest in the film. There are lots of female arms touching bond and holding cocktail drinks showing that there will also be some sort of parties involved in the film, it also connotes that Bond is a ladies man and could suggest that there will be lots of women he is 'dating' or lots of women wanting him. The female arms could also be a link to the title of the film because it is called 'Octopussy' and 'Oct' means eight and there are eight female arms surrounding him. This makes the audience thin that the number eight may be involved a lot in the film. As Bond is shown in front of the female figures, it suggests his dominance over them and his power and main part in the film. As bond is also shown holding a gun in his hand, this also supports the fact of his dominance throughout the film and also suggests how there will be a lot of action of which includes Bond.
Dr. No 1962
Dr.No was the first ever Bond movie to be put into cinematic action from the books. The colours that are involved in this poster are very different compared to all of the other more recent James Bond films, other than 'Octopussy'. This is because Dr.No has used pale colours such as blue blending into a white colour that is focused in the centre on the poster this links many connotations to the poster such as; makes the film look like it will be more chilled as the colours are not very intense and do not conform to the usual action film posters; this is because they usually have colours like red, black and white. It also can show a link into where the film may be set/located. This is because as the colours are light blue, this makes us assume it will being a warm place, this could help attract audience if they want to escape what they are going through at home therefore, watching a film based in an exotic country will help them escape reality. Sean Connery stars as 'James Bond'.
